What We Do

LEV Examination & Testing

Our health and safety experts can determine if your local exhaust ventilation (LEV) system is operating to the required standard.

Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) can be used as a control measure to reduce the worker’s exposure before they breathe contaminants in.  Where installed, the employer must ensure the LEV is suitable for use, regularly maintained and that Thorough Examination and Testing (TExT) is undertaken at the correct intervals.

Pragma can provide a competent person to undertake Thorough Examination and Testing (TExT) of your LEV.

The insight we gain from the LEV TExT will allow us to provide you with clear, practical recommendations as to what you need to do to prevent or adequately control your employees’ exposure to hazardous substances.

In our work as expert witnesses in occupational disease cases we often find that employers have inadequately controlled exposure because they have failed to implement appropriate Thorough Examination and Testing standards.

This is where we can help.

From a legislative perspective we can inspect your equipment and make sure you are fully compliant with regulations.

We can also help you to create a more robust safety framework by:

  • Ensuring your LEV system is examined and tested by a competent person at the appropriate intervals (which may be 1 month, 6 months or 14 months dependant on the substance under control)
  • Helping you to implement best practice to minimise exposure to hazardous substances
  • Helping you introduce additional control and safety measures

Why should you choose us to help you review your current LEV?

Our experienced team of health and safety experts have the required expertise to confirm whether your LEV system is fit for purpose.

  • We have the professional qualifications. We are on the BOHS register and all of our reports are reviewed by our chartered occupational hygienist.
  • We have the specific industry experience you need. Our team has worked across a range of very different industries including steel, agrochemicals, electronics, rail, aerospace, metal-working and manufacturing.
  • We have the practical experience. We know how to test the efficacy of LEV systems so you know they are performing to the highest standard and meet the HSE’s Approved Code of Practice.
  • Our experience as Expert Witnesses and former HSE Inspectors. This provides us with a unique insight that enables us to ensure that policies and practices are in line with current regulations and provide effective evidence of compliance in the event of future legal action.
