Regulatory Compliance Audits

Many business owners are concerned that they will not be in compliance with Health and Safety law should an Inspector from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) or the Local Authority visit to conduct an unannounced inspection.  Often senior managers are worried the company will be ‘shut down’ as a result of a visit.  Although regulators rarely take action resulting in a business having to cease trading, visits can be a costly experience in terms of time, money and reputation.

The introduction of Fee for Intervention in October 2012 meant that any business found to be in breach of Health and Safety law would have to pay a fee for the Inspector’s time to help the company achieve compliance.  Chargeable time includes the duration the inspector is on site, the time it takes to consider how the company might comply and the time to prepare reports and/or to get specialist advice on compliance.

At Pragma, we have a number of ex-regulatory inspectors who can conduct compliance visits.  We have over 35 years HSE experience in a wide range of industries including manufacturing, engineering, agriculture, leisure and construction.  An audit will help you to be prepared in advance of an inspection from a regulator.  We will provide you with advice that is tailored to your company which will help you to prioritise the action needed.
