Entry-Level Workplace Exposure Scientist / Occupational Hygienist

Pragma and Associates Ltd are looking to recruit an entry-level Workplace Exposure Scientist / Occupational Hygienist.

You will be trained and supported to become a professional Occupational Hygienist. Occupational Hygiene is the discipline of protecting worker health by controlling workplace hazards that can cause harm to health. This can include chemicals, noise, and vibration etc.

The clients you will support are typically leading companies in a diverse range of industries with a positive attitude to ensuring the health of their workforce.

Your work will cover the whole project cycle including client consultation and the development of bespoke proposals, undertaking workplace surveys, and reporting. Project areas will include, but are not limited to, COSHH, noise, vibration and manual handling.

Your training program will include six separate week-long courses from the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) together with continued mentoring from our highly experienced and friendly team.

Person Specification

In addition to having excellent organizational skills, you will:

  • Be educated to degree level or higher in a scientific discipline
  • Have the ability to learn to produce high quality technical reports to budget
  • Have the ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels within a business

Any knowledge of occupational hygiene, or a related discipline involving the management of occupational health risks (e.g. asbestos, health and safety) would be advantageous.

Salary and location

Annual salary from £28,000 depending on experience, plus 10% on target bonus. The annual salary will rise by £1000 with the completion of each of the five BOHS courses.

This is a hybrid position that will require visits to client sites across the UK and to our office in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. The role will also involve some overnight stays away from home.

The position is open to candidates with the right to work in the UK. A full UK driving license is required.
