Chesterfield NHS Trust has been fined after several employees were diagnosed with Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) after exposure to vibration from their work equipment. Read the full article here.
Our experience includes helping another NHS Trust to assess vibration risks associated with the removal of plaster casts. The action that was required to control the risks was easy to implement and would have prevented the consequences that arose in Chesterfield. Straightforward steps to achieve compliance with the Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005 will prevent injuries to staff and potential prosecution.
We have acted as expert witnesses in 100s of cases where people have alleged that they suffered injury due to exposure to hand arm vibration.
We use our experience to help employers and the courts to understand the risks associated with vibration and how they should be controlled. Employers have a duty to assess and control vibration risks and exposure should be eliminated or reduced as low reasonably practicable. To book a no obligation discussion with one of our vibration experts, please contact our Business Coordinator, Laura Hooper, on 01302 499050 or email laurahoooper@pragmaandassociates.co.uk.
