Principal industry experience:
HSE, Scottish industries, Health and Social care
I have dedicated my working life to ensuring employees and those who are affected by work activities are safe. I have regulated in a wide range of industries particularly engineering, agriculture and food production, on a variety of issues including machinery guarding, work at height and the safety of those in healthcare settings.
During Kerry’s 19 years as a Health and Safety Executive (HSE) Inspector in Scotland, she conducted hundreds of workplace inspections and accident investigations. Kerry’s experience means that she is ideally placed to advise on the regulatory and good practice standards in any occupational setting. Kerry’s work for Pragma involves applying her experience to advise and report in civil and criminal proceedings.
Kerry has produced over 50 reports for the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (the prosecuting body in Scotland) on a wide variety of topics including machinery safety, workplace transport, electrical safety, pressure system failures and care home accidents. The consequences for individuals included significant injuries and health effects, catastrophic injuries, occupational diseases and fatal accidents. Her reports assisted prosecutors to understand and then proceed with cases. Kerry has frequently been involved in briefings to the Fiscals, along with consultations with Senior Counsel to ensure the facts of the cases are understood.
Kerry’s regulatory experience is supported by a Post Graduate Diploma in Regulatory Occupational Health and Safety.
