In addition to his own case load, Ian has overall responsibility for the activities of Pragma and Associates Limited.
After starting his working life in the mining industry, Ian pursued a career in consultancy followed by a period with the Health & Safety Executive. Ian returned to consultancy practice in 1994 and first accepted instructions to provide liability evidence in personal injury cases over 20 years ago. He founded Pragma Consulting in 2000 followed by Pragma and Associates Limited (in partnership with Peter Deary) in 2008.
Ian has provided evidence in over 1000 cases primarily relating to occupational diseases; he particularly specialises in dust disease cases and cases involving exposure to noise or vibration.
One of Ian’s first instructions was the British Coal Respiratory Disease Litigation, the UK’s largest personal injury action. Since then he has accepted instructions in group actions in industries including engineering, construction, metal production and processing and manufacturing industries.
